August is here, bringing with it the bittersweet transition from the lazy, sun-soaked days of summer to the structured routines of back-to-school season. Whether you're savoring the last days of summer or gearing up for a busy school year, I'm right there with you!
As we step into this new month, I wanted to share some tips that might help make the transition smoother for you and your family:
- Ease into Routines: Start gradually adjusting bedtime and morning routines to help everyone in the household get back into the school rhythm.
- Create a Family Calendar: Keep track of important dates, school activities, and family events to stay organized and reduce last-minute stress.
- Plan for Healthy Snacks and Meals: Stock up on nutritious snacks and lunch items to make meal prep easier and keep everyone energized throughout the day.
- Set Up a Homework Space: Designate a quiet, clutter-free area for kids to focus on their studies, making it easier for them to transition from play to work mode.

How to store your scentsy bars
Have you ever looked at the clamshells overflowing your drawers and cupboards and wondered:
“How many Scentsy Bars do I really need?”
It’s a question we get a lot, so let’s walk through this together:
- Everyone has their go-to fragrances in each of the seven fragrance families. You’ll want to have one or two of your faves ready to warm.
- Then there’s the exploratory scents you pluck from New Releases each catalog season. Better pick out a couple new scents to try!
- Obviously, you have to factor in holiday scents, because you can’t celebrate Christmas or Valentine’s Day or National Donut Day without the right fragrance in the air.
- Add in seasonal favorites. It’s not autumn without pumpkins and apples and crunch leaves!
- It’s always good to have a few extra Scentsy Bars on hand for last-minute birthday or thank-you gifts or just-because surprises for your BFF.
- Toss in a few of your spouse’s favorites and the scents your kids ask for by name.
So, considering daily usage in three or four warmers in your home, you’ll need a minimum of about … 41 Scentsy Bars, ready to go at a moment’s notice. Let’s round up to a cool 50, just in case. Maybe even more!
What can we say? We’re enablers! We love Scentsy fragrances as much as you do. And whether you have just one bar or 100 in your home, how you store them matters.
Storage counts!
We want to help make sure each and every one of your Scentsy Bars warms beautifully. The way you store your bars can affect a fragrance’s character, duration and performance.
Here are a few storage dos and don’ts for maximizing your Scentsy Bars’ shelf life:
- Do keep them in a cool, dark place.
- Do lay them flat whenever possible.
- Do respect the first in, first out rule! Rotate older bars to the front of your stash to make sure you use them first.
- Don’t leave them in direct sunlight for any extended period of time.
- Don’t store them in cabinets or drawers next to the oven or stovetop. The bars will melt, and you will be sad.
- Don’t keep your Scentsy Bars in a warm, sunny car for too long.
- Don’t use the “freeze and thaw” method — it’s too extreme for most fragrances. (We’ve tested it with poor results. Don’t do it!)
- Don’t keep too many Scentsy Bars on hand. (Hahaha — just kidding! Go ahead and stock up).
But…
- Do stock up on fragrances you’ll use sooner rather than later (i.e., you probably don’t need enough Christmas Cottage Scentsy Bars to last you until June — unless you totally dig this fragrance!).
So, where’s the best wax storage in the house?
Taking our above guidance into consideration, you can store Scentsy wax pretty much anywhere you have space. An unused shelf in the linen closet is a great option — your sheets and towels will smell great! Keeping Scentsy Bars in your filing cabinet will lend signature scent to your documents. Under-the-bed storage totes can hold lots of Scentsy products. And for quick access to fragrance, stash a few bars in the drawers of coffee tables, side tables and console tables.

Armed with all these new storage tips, we wouldn’t be surprised if you’re looking to get a few new fragrances to put them to the test. You’re in luck, because now is actually a great time to shop, because almost everything is 10% off this month as we get ready to transition into the new catalog!
